Supplier and Manufacturer of Rolled and Welded Steel Cones
The Halvorsen Company is a certified supplier, manufacturer and custom fabricator of rolled and welded steel cones and cylinders. We roll steel plate into eccentric cones and concentric cones using a plate roll or press brake. Materials and steel grades that we can roll, form and weld include stainless steel, heat resistant alloys, carbon alloy steel, abrasion resistant steel, nickel alloy, aluminum and high strength steel. We can produce heavy wall and light wall cones for a variety of industrial components and applications including rings, cylinders for pressure vessels, ASME coded cylinders, material handling cylinders, housings, cone to cylinder assemblies, metal segments and sections, custom carbon steel slurry cones for mining applications, agricultural & food processing components, metal transitions, guards, spinning hoppers, hopper blenders and surge hoppers. We manufacture rolled and welded steel cones to precise minor diameters, major diameters, minor outside radiuses (radii), major outside radiuses and heights using materials with differing thicknesses. Our customers often prefer to outsource the rolling and welding of steel cones because the Halvorsen Company has the capacity and equipment to form heavy steel plate, can provide a fast production turnaround and because we deliver high quality steel cones at reasonable costs. The Halvorsen Company also provides transportation services from our facilities in Cleveland to ensure the safe delivery of the full cones or cone sections we manufacture.
Halvorsen Company offers formed and fit, formed and trimmed, and formed and welded Steel, Stainless Steel, and Clad explosion bonded or over-layed plate Cone segments and assemblies. To discuss your needs for rolled or formed and welded Cones, please contact a Sales Engineer or Justin Frick at 1-800-423-7080 or email to email@example.com.
Typical assemblies are constructed of 1 to 10 tapered shell segments. The number of shell segments required is calculated and determined based on ratios of material thickness, cone major and minor diameters, and overall length required. Sourcing of material by Halvorsen is preferred to improve fit-up quality after the forming operation. Halvorsen can offer the cone layouts and segments required based on the above criteria.
Typical construction of cones:
Full segments (1 weld seam)
180 degree fit and welded segments (2 segments, 2 weld seams)
120 degree fit and welded segments (3 segments, 3 weld seams)
90 degree fit and welded segments (4 segments, 4 weld seams)
Custom and non-typical segments (6, 8, 10, or more segments, multiple weld seams)
Halvorsen can offer cone construction in four combinations;
- Formed only
- Formed and trimmed with beveling
- Formed, trimmed & beveled, and fit (with tacking) on full sized layouts
- Formed, trimmed & beveled, and welded
Other services offered based on construction type selected;
- Custom Layouts, nesting, and cutting of your materials
- Stress relieving (welded construction only) – mechanical or thermal
- NDE testing of welds (PT, MT, UT, & RT)
