Heavy Steel Plate and Pressure Vessel Component Welding Services

The Halvorsen Company provides heavy steel and alloy plate welding services to manufacture a wide variety of industrial products including ASME Code pressure vessels and ASME Code process tanks.

To talk to us about our welding capabilities and weld repair services, call 1-800-423-7080 and ask for Justin Frick or a Sales Engineer or email sales@halvorsenusa.com.

Our welding facilities are located in Cleveland, Ohio. Our welders work with a variety of steel and alloy steel materials including heavy plate, pressure vessel quality (P.V.Q) plate, heavy alloy plate, armor plate, high carbon steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous steel and other types. Our welding specialists join many different types of components including large heavy steel sections, cylinders, heads, cones, steel segments, end caps, shells, tanks and ASME heavy walled pressure vessels.

We manufacture cylindrical and spherical pressure vessels from carbon steel and stainless steel using rolled and forged parts that we assemble. The mechanical properties of the materials we use to fabricate pressure vessels can be affected by welding and as a result our metallurgical specialist plays an important role in overseeing the welding process.

Our Quality Control and Assurance Program closely analyzes our fabrications and welding techniques to insure adequate mechanical strength.

We follow ASME standards which specify the types of steel that should be used for pressure vessel manufacturing. In situations and applications where carbon steel will suffer corrosion, we use special corrosion resistant materials.

Our engineering specialists and certified welders work diligently to avoid problems in welding during pressure vessel fabrication and we focus on welding technologies that provide the best welding solutions.

Our welding techniques include:

  • Automatic Welding
  • Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
  • Semi-Automatic Welding
  • Flux-core Welding (FCAW)
  • Manual Welding
  • MIG Welding (GMAW)
  • TIG Welding (GTAW)
  • Stick Electrode Welding (SMAW)

The Halvorsen Company has years of experience welding heavy steel plates, rolled cones, rolled cylinders and boiler components. These fabrications are used to manufacture custom boilers, pressure vessels, steam drums, condensers, blowdown tanks, expansion tanks, stainless steel tanks, towers, reactors, filters, flash tanks, separators and associated power piping for the boiler and steam industry.

Since 1955, The Halvorsen Company has been an ASME code certificate holder of the following stamps: “U”, “S”, “H” and National Board “R”. The quality of our welding and weld repair work is assured by our Quality Control staff through the use of non-destructive methods which include Magnetic Particle (wet or dry), Liquid Penetrant, Radiography (X-ray / R.T.), Visual (V.T.) and Ultrasonic (U.T).

Compliance:

  • Section VIII Div. 1 of the ASME Code
  • Section I of the ASME Code
  • Section IX of the ASME Code
  • AWS D 1.1
  • API 650
